I joined Scouts because I want my daughters to have as much fun and freedom outdoors as I had when I was growing up on Vancouver Island. When I started the 76th Burnaby Scout Group with David Burns in 2019,I was only a few years into getting serious about outdoor adventures. In 2022 I completed Wilderness First Aid training and Avalanche Safety Training. My favorite outdoor adventure this year was sleeping in a snow cave on Mt. Seymour at -15°C.
From my work in Biotechnology, I try to bring a STEM perspective to the Cub pack. I enjoy identifying plants and animals, discussing the thermodynamics of outerwear and sleep systems, and helping the Cubs design experiments to answer their own questions when we're outdoors.
I joined Scouts as a leader because I participated in something similar as a child and want other kids to have the same opportunity. Scouts is an excellent way for kids to learn outdoor skills, practice leadership, and be involved in their community. It is rewarding to see our diverse groups of kids growth together!
As an engineer for local government, I also like how Scouts helps the group connect with and contribute to their community and I enjoy helping the Cubs learn critical thinking (and have fun).
I joined Scouts because I have diverse outdoor skills to share and I enjoy the high energy of the youth in a large group. I aim to help my own children and the rest of the Pack build confidence and resilience in the outdoors.
My experience as a red seal carpenter is often useful as the Cubs always want to build something to create games and solve challenges.
I joined Scouts because I love camping and giving back to my community both personally and professionally.
As a Firefighter and First Responder I bring a safety perspective and hands on emergency skills to teach the Pack.
My work experience is in graphic and industrial design. I enjoy helping the Cubs explore their natural artistic talents while planning specific and fit-for-purpose creations.
